Automaker Ford will allow customers to receive promotional information about specific car models on their phones.

FordDirect, a mobile service initiated by American motor company Ford, will allow consumers to receive promotion information on a specific Ford vehicle model via SMS. Now, when a potential customer sees a Ford ad on TV, they can simply text a short code from their mobile phones, along with their zip codes, and they will instantly receive back information and local deals on that particular car.

The idea of FordDirect is created by the mobile marketing and advertising company, Hipcricket. According to a press release, Hipcricket hopes to integrate Ford's print and television advertising in an innovative and unique digital process. Valerie Fuller, the Chief Operating Officer at FordDirect stated:
