Innocent Drinks will enter the Spanish market based on a successful trial in Spain's major cities.

The company’s smoothies will initially be stocked in 73 Starbucks outlets and 25 convenience stores owned by Grupo Vips, a Spanish restaurant and retail operator.

Innocent co-founder Richard Reed said the move is part of a plan to increase the company’s sales across Europe.

Mr Reed also strongly denied reports that he and his co-founders, Adam Balon and Jon Wright, had a “provisional business plan” to sell the remainder of their stake in the business to Coca-Cola, which acquired a 58pc stake in the business for £60m last year. We’ve always had a 30-year perspective, so we’re a third of the way through,” he said.
