Free service offers users easy access to information, simple storage of information and the sharing of patient data.

At the Epatients conference this week in Philadelphia, PSFK heard Chris Dammert of the Lance Armstrong Foundation announce the launch of a Livestrong app to help cancer patients track and understand their illness. Livestrong’s ambition is to provide a direct service to help people fight cancer and empower them to act, and hopes that this service should support this goal.

For the development of the service, Chris said that they listened to cancer survivors and designed an app to fill the gaps in their lives. Cancer patients can download this iPad app for free and it offers users easy access to information, simple storage of information and the sharing of patient data. Conscious of patient confidentiality however, the service only captures user name and password and all personal data is saved locally on the user’s iPad. This way the patient can be in control of their personal information.
