Ayn Rand’s classic 1957 novel Atlas Shrugged has been released as an iPad app, along with a collection of archival materials to enhance the reader’s experience. Designed to attract both new and old fans to Rand’s controversial masterpiece, the app from Penguin Group includes lots of added extras. There are handwritten manuscript pages and notes, video and audio excerpts from Rand’s talks, full-length audio lectures, an illustrated timeline of the author’s life and major works, photo gallery, informative articles on the author’s life, a discussion guide to aid in book group or classroom conversations, and the trailer for the upcoming documentary Ayn Rand and the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged. Readers are also able to share favorite passages and quotes from the novel on Facebook, Twitter, and via email, without leaving the page.
