700 drivers will have a chance to shape BMW's future electric vehicles through an extensive field trial.

The Electronauts may sound like an alien species from a Doctor Who episode, but in reality BMW is hoping they become a critical component in their electric vehicle development program. The automaker recently put out a call for 700 drivers(AKA the Electronauts) to register for a 2-year lease of their all electric, ActiveE sedan. These drivers will become part of a field test to evaluate the ActiveE and provide data and insights to BMW. The test is similar to the one conducted with the Mini-E but on a larger scale.
