Bikes are all about customization. Because the best bikes typically cater to a particular need or set of specifications. fuseproject came up with a ‘neighborhood bike’ called BIKE LOCAL, with a design that integrates storage and communicates ‘relaxation.’ It does so by integrating features that address bikers’ needs regarding locking and lighting (for safety), storage (for convenience), and even music (for entertainment and attention).

Here is part of their positioning statement:

With our LOCAL, we visit friends down the street; we ride to shops in the vicinity such as our favorite hardware store, we drop-off the kids at the school nearby, we grab a picnic and take the whole family (including surfboards) to the beach. To realize this idea, we solved for load placement, steering options, ways to secure all kinds of cargo and relieve the hassles usually associated with taking a bike out for the day.

BIKE LOCAL’s design is inspired by the pick-up truck and can carry very heavy, large, bulky objects, a ‘workhorse’ of a vehicle.
