A new concept printer uses solar energy to power itself and also uses sunlight to print out black and white images and content.

The Tanning Printer doesn’t run on ink cartridges or electricity, instead, it harnesses the power of the sun to ‘tan’ your paper to create images and content. It’s an eco-friendly concept as to purify the residual ink in one cartridge requires nearly a ton of ink and ends up being an environmental nightmare. Although this concept printer can only print in black and white, the designer don’t think this would be a problem as 70 percent of documents printed out daily are not in full color.

The designers, Hosung Jung, Junsang Kim, Seugin Lee and Yonggu Do, believe that the Tanning Printer could be the ‘next generation printer which will replace cartridge ink’.
