An artist rewrites books on unconventional material. Each chapter is written word for word on grains of rice and then bagged to compile the entire text.

Library is an artpiece by Trong G. Nguyen that features entire text of individual chapters of books written word for word on grains of rice. Each grain of rice contains a single word written in ink, with the book titles written on golden grains. One title in the project is Roland Barthes’ La chambre claire. The book is neatly divided into 48 short chapters – each denoted on the top right corner of each mylar rice packet.

Nguyen is the current editor at Artslant; his endeavors also include being a contestant on Bravo’s reality show, Work of Art: The Next Great Artist.
