Green Groupon-Style Weekly Deals Site Launches In Europe

Amsterdam-based Strawberry Earth features products and services from sustainable brands who care about the environment.

Amsterdam-based deals website Strawberry Earth launched this week, offering discounted products and services, and aiming to help people live sustainable lives by introducing them to brands that care about the planet. The site, described by it’s founder Ikenna Azuike as “Europe’s first green version of Groupon,” will feature deals with well-known brands like G Star RAW Sustainable and Baobab Travel as well as smaller Dutch companies.

Currently on Strawberry Earth there is a deal for 40% off 6 bottles of French wine and a disco dinner for two at one of Amsterdam’s top restaurants. The site will feature products and services from brands that live up to their Strawberry Earth Principles and will need to be sustainable, green, environmentally-friendly, chemical-free, local, and fair priced.

Every time you purchase something from the site, you are asked to vote for one of three ‘Good Causes that Rock’. At the end of three months, the winning initiative will receive a week’s worth of exposure on Strawberry Earth. They design a wallpaper for the winner (which is featured on the website’s homepage) and also post Facebook messages, tweets and blog about them. In future, they say they’ll also share the profits of the purchases made on Strawberry Earth with the winning good cause.
