Smartphone owners in London can now hail a black cab with their mobile phones by using the app Hailo. The mobile app aims to help customers and cab drivers effortless find each other. Customers can request a cab with the free app. While cab drivers can register to use their own version of the app to view and accept requests. Each driver is verified beforehand to ensure that they’re licensed.

After each ride, the customer can pay with cash or card. The driver enters the meter fee into the app and Hailo takes a 10% cut with no hidden fees added.

Jay Bregman, Hailo Founder and CEO, stated that cab drivers have already charged £1 million in fares through the system and hopes to expand the app to include other cities. At this stage, Bregman has met with the Taxi & Limousine Commission in New York City and is looking to launch in the U.S. soon.

Hailo is available on the Apple iOS and also Android devices.
