iPhone App Lets You Know Which Green Labels Are Actually Meaningful

The Eco-Labels app informs shoppers on verified eco-friendly products.

Supermarket products are filled with green labels letting us know if the item is eco-friendly. However, some of these claims are more ambiguous, and those that have not been approved by another certification group can often be misleading. Consumer Reports in the U.S. have created the Eco-Label iPhone app that allows you to search through a comprehensive list of product labels and claims. The app lets you know which ones are more ‘meaningful’, where they have been “verified, consistent, transparent and independent. They are those that have been developed with broad public and industry input.”
