Many in the United States allow their vacation days to go unused, usually due to the fact that most cannot afford to travel.

Based on an average salary of nearly $40,000 a year, an average of 2 unused vacation days amounts to $34.3 billion. A similar survey found that the average number of unused vacation days is actually 11. CNN Money.
