Visitors to Times Square got to interact with virtual cartoon characters brought to life using augmented reality.

Visitors to Times Square in New York got a delightful surprise as infamous Disney characters came to life on the big screen. Using augmented reality technology, the audience got to interact with the on-screen 3D character and also virtual items on the screen.

The video below demonstrates how the ‘magic’ worked as some people got to have a sword fight with Hook from Peter Pan, interact with the Evil Queen from Snow White and reach out to Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians.

The interactive screen was part of a campaign to promote Disney Parks in the U.S. It was a success as the event and video generated lots of buzz and discussions online, with people wanting this as a permanent fixture in their city.
