Modern Scandinavian furniture pieces were used in operas set in different eras.

IKEA products were used in the set design of two operas at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Italy. The two operas included The Bell by Gaetono Donizzetti and Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini. Both operas were set in different times and the performers were often juxtaposed in front of modern IKEA furniture pieces.

The Bell was set in the Victorian era and took place inside of the house of a newly-wed couple where white lacquered IKEA items were used as props. Gianni Schicchi had a more medieval theme and IKEA furniture with natural wood finishing were used to blend more with the set.
