International Artist Teams Up With Demin Brand To Create Live Installation For Charity
PSFK Favorites Shantell Martin and 3x1 team up for an exciting in-store month long project.
One of the greatest parts of working in the NYC creative sphere are the friends you make. However, the second greatest part is when your friends decided to work together to create something awesome. Such is the case with the recent collaboration of PSFK muse Shantell Martin and 3×1— the newest denim endeavor from Earnest Sewn–mastermind (and past PSFK interviewee) Scott Morrison.
Martin, who’s known as much for her compelling interactive live shows as she is for her innovative and light-hearted illustrations, will be taking residency at 3×1’s Mercer Street shop till mid January, offering customized jeans crafted on site. As part of their shared creative processes, the Brooklyn-based illustrator and the 3×1 founder are frequently known for inviting others to take part in their art-making: Martin through live performances and Morrison through providing total transparency in placing his production line behind glass walls. With this voyeuristic inventiveness in mind, Martin will be using 3×1’s 4,000 square foot manufacturing facility, retail and gallery space as her live canvas.
