Wenzani is a new location-based app which lists retail, dining, nightlife and culture recommendations from friends and reputable publishing sources.

Created by FourForty.inc–Lonely Planet’s ‘friend focussed’ mobile start up–the new app allows users to ‘follow’ culture experts/guides, such as Time Out, Lonely Planet and Frommers, as well as ask for specific, location-based recommendations from their friends via social networks.  Nearby eateries, bars, entertainment night spots and cultural venues are viewable through the ‘recommended’ tab and allow users to add comments, pictures and video to each location. Searchable by type of venue in list or map form, each recommendation can gain validity through the ‘Agree’ option. Users can also connect with their friends on the platform and view and add to their personal recommendations.

The app is free and currently available on both iPhone and iPod Touch in the iTunes store.
