New Start-Up Will Create A Dynamic Social Network For Political Ideas

Facebook Co-founder Chris Hughes has teamed up with online entrepreneurs like Eli Pariser in a new start-up that puts a digital spin on political news and aims to "make being a progressive fun again."

Chris Hughes, the co-founder of Facebook, has joined forces with Eli Pariser, President of online campaign network MoveOn, and Peter Koechley, former editor of online satirical website the Onion, to launch a viral media company. Details of the start up have been kept under wraps, but according to The Guardian, snippets of information have been revealed through job posts.

The working name of the media company is Cloud Tiger Media and it aims to “spread important, compelling ideas to hundreds of millions of people online and make being a progressive fun again.” Cloud Tiger Media will primarily focus on political news and have  great content and visuals that will engage with readers and have “immediate emotional resonance.”

Hughes worked closely with Mark Zuckerberg to launch the successful social media site Facebook. Later on, Hughes was Barack Obama’s digital consultant during the 2008 presidential race. In 2010, he also started Jumo, a philanthropic social networking site.
