Google To Penalize Sites With Too Many Ads

Algorithm wants to stamp out bad experience design - unless we're talking about a spammy Google Search result page.

Google have altered their search engine algorithm so that websites with too many advertisements that appear when the user first gets directed there (known as ‘above the fold’) will appear lower down in search results. It doesn’t seem to effect sites with a couple of banners – but it seems targeted at sites where there is so much advertising that it’s hard to know where to look. The tech company suggests that website designers use a Browser Size Tool to help them know where to concentrate content.
