Concept can move virtual furniture around your home to see how it could fit elsewhere.

At CES this year we were shown new Microsoft technology that used the Kinect game system to scan rooms in 3D. Although it was in early development, the Microsoft team explained that this system could be used to scan the furniture in your house and save the 3d data for it. Then the user could move that furniture around virtually to see how it could fit elsewhere in the room or elsewhere in the house.

The system could also be used as a security device in your house – and could notify the house owner when it finds someone in the house that it didn't expect. The team were a little coy when I asked if it could recognize the person — but the team at PSFK expects that this can't be far off.
