Tomahawk enables users to discover new music. It combines peer-to-peer sharing and recommendations with streaming music search options on a multi-source platform. After connecting the media player to your music folder, you can find music to play in other streaming services (including Spotify, Official.fm, YouTube, Bandcamp and Grooveshark) and playlists from others in the Tomahawk community.

According to their press release, files on Tomahawk are shared “by abstracting a piece of content’s metadata from its file location, users can easily share playlists, listening history and more.” Within one playlist, the platform may play songs from any source, assuming that users don’t care where the song is playing from as long as it is playing.
