Students from London's top art school showcase their latest projects and enlighten audiences about the current direction of the industry.

The recent Work in Progress exhibition at the Royal College of Art, London, held in January, was an exciting and inspiring show. Samples of work from all of the current postgraduate fashion and textiles students were on show. In this final post, ARTS THREAD chooses some highlights from the textile students.

The variety of individual and innovative approaches was refreshing. Dramatic statements and a general air of exuberance emerged strongly as an overall trend.

Two textile students experimenting with wood veneer stood out strongly. First year student Jessica Coleman’s beautiful application of silky wood veneer onto a delicate organza base was a highlight. Second year Jessica Meek’s clever and inventive 3D panels used both wood and metal in a distinctive, decorative way.
