Is Twitter Becoming The New Google?

There is now a new way to discover new media using TasteKid's unique search engine service on the social network.

TasteKid is a ‘discovery engine’ that can search for relevant music, films, books, games, and authors, based on what you already like. The startup company recently turned three and has expanded its online search engine service to a variety of mobile platforms. Now, users can get suggestions via Twitter simply by tweeting to @tastekid what they currently like. Everyday, the Twitter account will also recommend various media of the day, such as ‘Book of the Day,’ ‘Game of the Day’, ‘Artist of the Day’ and so on.

TasteKid  reflected upon its three-year anniversary in 2011 by blogging:

The fact that millions of people used a service I designed and implemented to enrich their lives by discovering new music, movies, books is very humbling indeed, and many times gave me a sense of accomplishment that money can’t buy.

Since that post, TasteKid has also made itself available as a free app  for iPhones and Androids.
