Interactive shop window invites people to play a doodling game using their smartphones.

LOVE Labs created an interactive and engaging shop window that invited people to doodle on it using their smartphones. Collaborative drawing game Doodlr was projected onto the shop front of the Manchester Digital Laboratory in the UK, instructing users to draw certain pictures, which were then captured and posted on Flickr. Anyone with a smartphone could interact with the installation over 3G or wi-fi, without needing to download an app.

LOVE Labs have been experimenting with bringing physical spaces to digital life. They wrote a server application called “Mo” that “bridges the gap between smartphone web browsers and real-time, multi-user experiences” and Doodlr is the first idea they have built using it.
