A new graphic charts how the university basketball teams use their online influence for community building and fan engagement.

The men’s college basketball teams that advanced to the NCAA Final Four generated a lot of social media buzz and online influence. A recent Klout blog post looked at what the University of Kansas, the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville and the Ohio State University did to engage with their fans and how this made their scores grow.

The social media manager for the teams found that exclusive behind-the-scenes content, such as pictures and videos of the players and coaches, is very successful. Giving fans as much content as possible, enhancing informative tweets with a picture, getting former players involved, and sharing posts from sports personalities saying positive things about the team, all help to keep the excitement levels high, which in turn keeps the team’s Klout Score high as well.
