Don't call it a Dodge, the new Viper wears the SRT badge.

A highlight of the 2012 New York Auto Show was the unveiling of the new 2013 SRT Viper. The iconic sports/performance car formerly marketed under the Dodge brand, will now headline the SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division which already includes other models from Jeep and Chrysler.

The car was presented by Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of SRT who spoke about how critical enthusiast feedback was in influencing the design of the new Viper. Even the direction which the hood opens was debated, it flips forward on the new model. The Viper is really known for horsepower and the 2013 SRT Viper will have 640hp produced from a front/mid mounted V10 engine. The entire car has been made more lightweight thanks to advances in engineering and materials. Most of the exterior body panels are carbon fiber. The weight savings translates to improved performance and handling.
