NYC Municipal Archives Releases Nearly 1M Historic Photographs [Pics]
Photographs from the city's archives are made available online for the first time.
The New York City Municipal Archives made nearly 1M photographs available online for the first time earlier this week. The photographs from the archives date back to the 1800’s and detail the city’s vibrant history. What makes these photographs special and unique is that they’re not the glamorized, glossy shots that usually depict New York, but rather, these are rare shots of real life in New York City. The majority of these photographs weren’t taken by renowned photographers, but by anonymous municipal workers and NYPD detectives.
