General Electric wishes to set up the WattStation Connection, a cloud-based program that lets homeowners advertise their charging rates to attract electric vehicle drivers who need to ‘fill up'. Potentially, this concept allows people to earn some extra money by simply installing a plug station.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, only a third of the 9,000 electric-vehicle charging stations in the U.S. are publicly accessible. GE looks to capitalize on the growth of e-vehicles and has even consulted with PayPal as payment options for the WattStation Connection.
