Nike Collab With Tom Sachs Imagines Sportswear For Mars [Pics]

The notorious artist collaborated with the sportswear brand for a capsule collection of clothing for Mars.

Nike collaborated with the artist Tom Sachs on a capsule collection for his “Space Program: Mars” exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC, which runs until June 17th. The five-piece NikeCraft collection includes custom sneakers, clothing and bags appropriate for a trip to Mars.

There is the Mars Yard Shoe (an orange and tan sneaker with futuristic-looking soles), the lightweight Marsfly jacket, the Chester Trench (with the periodic table of elements on the lining), the Airbag duffel bag, and a lightweight tote. The items are made from innovative materials including car airbags and boat sails, and many have elements with dual-functions, like zipper pulls that serve as storage containers. Sachs told ArtInfo:

This project represents so much of what’s possible. When I was in school, we always designed things not for what was probable, but what was possible.
