Readers flipping through the pages of the June issue of House Beautiful will be able to ‘pin’ images directly from the magazine onto their personal Pinterest pinboards. Images in the ‘Kitchen of the Month’ article will feature a special watermark; when readers scan the image with a smartphone app, they will be directed to the article’s Pinterest board, where readers can then repin any of the images from the article onto their own pinboards.

Newell Turner, Editor-in-Chief of House Beautiful, explains the decision to try out the print-to-pin functionality:

We know our readers are already taking pictures of pages from our magazine and pinning them on Pinterest. We see this … as an important advancement toward further deepening engagement with our readers.

The ‘Print-To Pin’ solution was created by Digimarc, and to use the feature, users must first download House Beautiful’s or Digimarc’s Discover app. While just one page of the June House Beautiful edition is Pinterest-enabled, the magazine hopes to expand the capability in the future.
