Square hopes to add more users to its current 1 million merchants.

Square Card Reader is able to turn a smartphone into a device that can accept credit cards. The small card reader is easy to set up and simply plugs into the audio jack of the phone. After Square's success online, the company recently announced that it will make its product available in more than 20,000 retail locations, including Walgreen, Staples, and FedEx Office stores. Currently, consumers can purchase the reader at Apple, Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy.

By making the Square Card Reader readily available, the company hopes to attract more consumers, adding to the 1 million merchants who already use the service. The card reader will have a suggested retail price of $9.95, and the Square app is free to download for iOS and Android devices.
