The Oru Kayak is the world’s first origami kayak that is light, portable, and unfolds in minutes. The working concept was created by designer Anton Wills who has been working on the idea for months at TechShop. What initially looks like a large artist portfolio case, can be quickly unfolded and assembled to form a working kayak in around five minutes.

The Oru is made from corrugated plastic, which is lightweight, durable, and flexible. David Lang from MAKE had the opportunity to test the kayak and commented that it felt “fast and comfortable.” The Oru is expected to retail for around $500 with no confirmed launch date yet.
