The BMW Art Car has been a tradition since 1975, with famous artists like Roy Lichenstein, Jeff Koons, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol transforming the BMW that would compete in the Le Mans 24-hour race into a work of art.

This recent Art Drive! BMW Art Car Collection 1975-2010 exhibition is being organized by The Institute of Contemporary Arts as part of the London 2012 Festival. People in the city get to experience customized, highly crafted car paint jobs. The idea is to take a ‘perfect car,’ already famous for its top-notch design and to give it a unique visual identity by adding the touch of a famous artists’ style.

The cars will be on display at the Great Eastern Street Car Park in Shoreditch, London until August 4th, 2012.
