British visual artist Shantell Martin has collaborated with her 86-year-old grandmother for a new cross-generational piece. The pair of black and white needlework designs featuring the words “As you are” and “As you were” were sewn by Dot Martin who lives back in the UK as an homage to her granddaughter’s recognizable black and white style. She then sends them by post to her granddaughter who currently resides in New York.
