Online website aggregates industry-related news for hard-core travelers.

Skift launched this week as a “travel intelligence media company” that aims to offer travelers relevant content focused on the travel industry. The startup primarily targets frequent travelers and industry professionals, and provides aggregated content including software-aggregated, human-curated, licensed, and original reporting. The website is currently funded through advertising, but hopes to launch a subscription-based service in the later stages.

Skift is based on paidContent, an online news hub that focuses on digital media. Both companies are founded by journalist Rafat Ali. Ali explains his decision to create a travel site as, “Well, I don't like sports. I'm a traveler, so there was a personal bias to cover this information.”
