It’s no secret that tennis superstar Venus Williams likes to bring a little high fashion to the tennis courts- her untraditional outfits often garner as much attention as her playing ability, and she even designs her own line of tennis clothing, EleVen. To match her high-end style, Vogue commissioned twelve designers to create an updated version of the classic green tennis ball for the US Open.

While none of the balls are actually playable (the spikes and diamonds on a few would surely do some damage to the court!), many of the designs draw inspiration from the sport; below, Peter Som’s glam tennis ball mimics a diamond tennis bracelet and featured in the header, Diane von Furstenberg’s design cleverly pays homage to the ‘love’ in tennis scoring.

Click through the gallery to see all of the designs- it’s almost as if NY Fashion Week landed a few days early!
