ecoATM can distinguish between 4000 different types of electronic devices with 97.5% accuracy to give you an appropriate amount of money and recycle your 'e-trash.'

ecoATM is an automated machine for depositing old mobile phones and MP3 players in exchange for cash. It can distinguish between 4,000 different types of electronic devices with 97.5% accuracy to give you an appropriate amount of money. The machine can also tell if a device has damage, like a cracked screen, to help determine how much it is worth.

To use the ecoATM, you place your device into the kiosk and a visual scan is carried out to identify it. Then it provides you with the right connector cable to link your device to the ecoATM network, where its value is determined in a few minutres. You can then receive your cash or choose to donate some of the money to a charity. The company says that some phones are worth as much as $300 in the machine. Around 75% of the devices people deposit will go to a new owner and the rest will be recycled.
