Boosted Boards‘ longboard is a lightweight and portable electric vehicle with 2000W of power and regenerative braking. The 12 lb. board is easy to maneuver and uses lithium ion batteries for a range of 6 miles and a top speed of 20 mph.

You start with a handheld remote with throttle and braking control and a battery gauge readout.   To charge it, simply plug in the included charger just like a laptop, phone, or any other device.  If you run out of charge, or you just feel like pushing, go for it – it still rolls like a normal longboard (but with a bit more drag, like a bad set of bearings).  That’s it… it’s that simple.

World’s Lightest EV Reimagines What Transportation Can Be

It was built by a team with backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, and aerospace engineering from Stanford. They designed and built the proprietary on-board computers, motor controllers, and software from scratch. The electronics and batteries can handle extremely fast charging, going from empty to full in less than two hours. The project launched yesterday on Kickstarter and has almost reached its $100,000 goal already. You can receive your own board for a pledge of $1,199. Check out the video below for more info:
