The Transporter is a small device that lets you transfer files between people without having to store things in the cloud. It lets you privately share, collaborate and back up files with other Transporter users located anywhere in the world.

The online, but off-cloud storage solution stores your data on your local network and the local networks of other Transporter users that you specifically authorize. Engadget reports that the dedicated internet-connected storage hub is a focused sharing space that keeps your data private and makes it accessible offline.

Transporter is easy to use, you simply send an invite to the people you want to share with and wait for them to accept. The device offers unlimited sharing, remote access, and no fees. It is currently seeking funds on Kickstarter, where you can pledge $179 for a model with no drive, $269 for a Transporter with a 1TB drive, and $359 for one with a 2TB drive.
