The Barcode Room is a concept design from studio_01 for a living area with sliding walls that can be arranged to create various spaces.

The Barcode Room is a concept by studio_01, which recently won a competition to design a studio apartment that can also be used for a gathering space. The apartment can transform into different ‘rooms' for different purposes as it is composed of walls (known as ‘bars'), which move freely from side to side. This lets the resident customize the size of the space to fit a variety of uses.

Functional removable elements such as storage and furniture are placed into these walls, allowing for more of the floor area to be utilized. Each wall is a combination of twelve types of components to make a single bar. Also, when different items are unfolded or pulled out of the walls, this creates windows through to the other side.
