United Colors of Benetton is known for featuring bold advertisements while addressing social issues. In its recent product campaign that was launched in Paris this week, the clothing brand featured a Brazilian transsexual model, and a male German faced with disabilities, to promote its Spring/Summer collection.

Lea T is a well-known icon of Transgender Advocacy, and was discovered by a senior designer at Givenchy in 2010. She has since graced the pages of Vogue Paris, Love Magazine, and Interview Magazine. The model was born as a male and began gender reassignment in 2008. In media interviews, she is open to talking about the hormones affected her both physically and mentally.

Another brand ambassador of the campaign is Mario Galla, a German model who walked down the runway at Berlin Fashion week with his prosthetic leg, while dressed in shorts.

These new digital ads are hoping to build an online community dedicated to colors. An online platform will aggregate user-generated feeds from Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter, that include color-related hashtags, posts, headings, and photos.
