Currently 74% of Millennial workers are either actively searching for a new job or open to new opportunities. In light of this, there exists in the workplace great opportunity for connecting likeminded employers and employees, but also a great challenge in finding effective ways to make these connections.

Revealed in the Future of Work report, PSFK labs found that services are emerging that leverage social and contextual information to match up project collaborators and assist both companies and those searching for jobs with finding the perfect employment fit. Large organizations are using these tools internally to allow likeminded workers to identify one another and to rally multidisciplinary teams around specific business problems. Most of these tools are defined by their use of data to make intelligent recommendations and the way in which they leverage our social connections to show which cohorts might be able to assist with forging a specific career path.

The importance of finding a correct match is expressed by Steve Faktor, author of Econovation:

Company culture is the single biggest reason a person succeeds in one company and fails in another. Top grads and interns have gone on inter- views and told me, “I felt like there was no air in the room.” That stifling feeling doesn’t just hurt your younger workers, but it hurts innovation and productivity across the board.
