Photographer Christian Åslund explores the urban jungle from an interesting and playful perspective.

Swedish photographer Christian Åslund’s latest project turns the streets of Hong Kong into a playful setting of a 2D video game. The series of photos is titled ‘Honkey Kong’ and is part of an advertising campaign for the shoe brand Jim Rickey. According to Åslund, he wanted to create a “tribute to classic 2D platform games and integrate the person with the street scenes.”

The photos are created using a tele-lens and the scenes are photographed from above so the images look flat. Åslund gets into position by lying on his side or back to appear to be navigating through the streets on a 2D plane.
