The film and comic book industries have been experimenting with new mobile service Vine, which lets you create and share short, looping videos. The feature film It’s a Disaster, starring David Cross and Julia Stiles, was released in a long series of 6-second Vine videos by distribution company Oscilloscope Labs.

The comedy also has a planned March 5th digital and VOD release and an April 12th theatrical release. It follows a group of friends having their monthly “couples brunch,” when their city falls victim to a mysterious attack.

As they are trapped in the house and unsure of their fates, they become increasingly unhinged to hilarious with surprising results. The clips were originally uploaded to the company’s Twitter account but after followers complained, they were moved exclusively to Vine. You can see the trailer for the film below:

In another example, UK digital agency CodeComputerLove used Vine to release a comic book. They replaced the traditional panels with a series of eight clips to create the tale The Last Drop. The Vines are featured on a dedicated webpage, which enables visitors to cycle through the entire comic book by clicking on the play button.
