Luxury Automakers Turn Attention To Entry Level Models

Can these affordable models live up to established brand perceptions?

Audi and Mercedes-Benz both debuted new entry-level models at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Priced in the 30k range, the cars aim to be an affordable path in to luxury performance brands for younger buyers and specifically the Chinese market. The base cars offer the similar styling found on the more expensive models in the line but you don’t get quite the same performance in terms of engine power. But pay a bit more money and performance versions like the Audi S3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG get you closer to the top end models. Here’s a look a both of those cars:
