President Obama has named sites in Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Ohio, and Washington that tell the story of a special event or person.

President Obama has established five new national monuments that celebrate America’s history and natural heritage. Located in Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico, Ohio, and Washington, each monument marks a special event or person and helps tell their story. President Obama said:

These sites honor the pioneering heroes, spectacular landscapes and rich history that have shaped our extraordinary country. By designating these national monuments today, we will ensure they will continue to inspire and be enjoyed by generations of Americans to come.
