Created by Japanese designer Risako Matsumoto, Water Balance is a vase structure that debuted at iSaloni this season as part of product design project Design Soil.

The wooden construction contains two stainless steel pieces, a vial is placed on one side, and a sliding weight is placed on the other side. The design maintains perfect balance until the plant is dry, signalling to the owner that it’s time for more water.

Water Balance is an innovative yet simple idea that visually communicates the plant’s needs in an elegant and minimal fashion.
