Gigit claims to be the Airbnb for bands and hopes to “bring the backstage to your backyard.” The online marketplace allows users to browse through various popular artists along with their schedule and pricing.

Traditionally, if you wanted to book a well-known band, you would need to go through an agency and perhaps experience countless of e-mail exchanges and unanswered calls. Gigit aims to make the booking process much easier and transparent.

Currently the site features a list of 20 artists and growing. The list includes upcoming musicians such as The Astronomical Kid, and Tapioca and the Flea, to well-known bands like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Pricing varies from $200 to $5,000, depending on the artist’s popularity.

Gigit’s revenue model includes charging the host 20 per cent on top of the booking fee, and takes a 5 per cent cut of the band’s fee. The company also offers rentals for sound systems and equipment.
