Experimental home doesn't need an electricity supply, just human exertion.

Architectural studio Elii has developed a pilot house called the JF-Kit House (short for Jane Fonda Kit House) to look at how it's possible to generate your own household energy while keeping fit at the same time.

The house includes a variety of exercises, including a crankshaft in the kitchen, a cycling pump in the living room and an energy absorbing tatami for sit-ups in the front room.

So not only could it be possible to reduce your environmental impact, but getting a full-body workout could also be part of the process, leaving you with nothing but benefits.
