Visual artist Karen Finley collaborates with The New Museum to push the boundaries of mobile eroticism through “Sext Me if You Can,” an interactive performance installation inspired by “sexts” or erotic messages sent through mobile phones.

Set in full view of museum visitors, Finley will create paintings that channel sexts sent by anonymous participants on a commission basis. At predetermined times of the day, confirmed participants will be led to a private on-site sitting where they will be given access to a private mobile number for them to craft and send their sexts to. Finley will then draw her interpretation of the intimate message and display it throughout the duration of the interactive installation. Upon the closure of the exhibit, the participants will then have the chance to take home their collaborative artwork.

Sext Me If You Can will be available for public viewing beginning Thursday, May 23rd.
