Californian startup creates a convenient alternative to curtains and blinds.

Design firm SONTE has designed a Wifi-enabled window film that switches from clear to opaque via smartphone app.

The product comes in a DIY package that consumers can retrofit to existing windows within the home. The simple steps include; measuring the window, cutting the film to size, sticking down the self-adhesive fillm, attaching the conducting clips and plugging it in to the Wi-Fi transformer. The film can then turn solid by an electric current moving through, changing transparency within a second. As added features, the shades offer UV protection and can also double as a projector screen when opaque hinting that it’s made for use in the office as well.
